3 Months!

Last Tuesday, Mister Caden turned 3 months old!  Hard to believe I know!  His smiles makes my heart so happy, so I love to see them so many times each day!!  It's so incredible to watch him grow and get better at things like holding up his head.  He definitely loves motion and has to be bounced or rocked to go to sleep and not a fan of sitting still too long!! Recently he has become more stubborn some times in fighting his naps (I have no idea where he could have gotten that from:), but eventually he gives in and falls asleep.     No field trips to the doctor (thank goodness we have a healthy boy!), so his weight and height were done by yours truly and by no means 100% accurate, but his stats are 12.6 lbs. and 24 inches long, so we are definitely growing!!
We still don't have an exact schedule, but most days he wakes up about 6 in time to see his Daddy for a few minutes before he leaves for work.  While Mommy tries to wake up, we hang out in bed for a little bit, then I try to get clothes on, etc. while the munchkin hangs out in his bouncer.  I try to get him to take a morning nap after the second feeding, sometimes not successful and other times I can only get him to stay asleep if I hold him.  If I'm able to put you down, I usually try to eat breakfast, do a load of laundry, or the dishes.  If the weather is nice and we can get out with a chunk of time before the next feeding, we will go for a walk (well, I will walk while you get pushed in your stroller!) Other days, we have errands like the grocery store or Target.  There are some activities we have every week, so there is some consistency.  Every Monday afternoon Caden has a playdate with Grandma (it's a win-win for everyone because Caden gets some quality time with his grandma and I get a few hours to clean the house, run errands, etc), Tuesday mornings we have Ladies Bible class at church, and Wednesday evenings we meet Caden's Pawpaw, Mitt, Aunt Andy, and Daddy for dinner before Bible class at church.
This past month Caden had a few "firsts".  He had his first playdate with his friend Cannon (who is just 11 days older than Caden).  I think the time span where they were awake at the same time was about 15 minutes, but his Mommy enjoyed visiting with her friend Leslie.  Caden also had his first (and I'm sure his father hopes his last) trip to the nail salon.  It was the middle of the day and there was no one in there except myself and my friend Lesel, so you couldn't smell any fumes.  The ladies working there LOVED him, boy put on the show and knew how to flirt with the ladies!  Caden celebrated his first Valentine's Day and even delivered some surprises to some special ladies in his life! Valentine's Day with a little one was different than previous ones, but still very special.  Since it fell on a Friday, we opted not to go out since the restaurants would be crowded, so Caden and I met Casey and some coworkers for lunch at Chili's and spent the evening at home.  I even mopped the kitchen floor (I know, living it up!)  Saturday evening Casey and I dropped Caden off with his Grandma, then went to see "The Monuments Men" and dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.  I told Casey I didn't want any gifts, just a card and time with him would be the best gift and it was!
Here are some pictures to share of our precious blessing:

Got Poop?

So last Monday was an eventful milestone in the Hixon household when Caden pooped in my hand. Now I'm not talking about a little poop that one might get on your hand during a diaper change. We've been there and done that within the first month. Here is how it went down or should I say came out!
I was upstairs with Caden by myself giving him a bath in his infant tub. Within 2 minutes of setting him in the tub, little mister pees!  I couldn't bathe him in his own pee, so I got him out and refilled the water. Get Caden back in the tub for Round 2 and within another minute, yours truly decides now is the time to poop! This required additional parental assistance. I called Casey to help and he took care of changing the water for us. Now Round 3 of new bath water starts and within about a minute the little guy decides he was not done and poops some more!  As Casey is changing out the bath water and I am holding this sweet naked baby with one of my hands under this teeny tiny hiney, Caden finishes what he started and poops in my hand.
It was a very special moment, one I wish he might have shared with his Daddy, but perhaps his turn is further down the road. The bath water has now been replaced 4 times. You would think this child is avoiding a bath, but this Momma is determined to bathe her baby!! So after thoroughly cleaning my hand, Caden finally got bathed in clean water!!
Thanks for the memory sweet boy!!!

2 Months Already?!

Well Mr. Caden is already 2 months old and 3 months is quickly approaching!  It does go by quickly, but being home with him full-time has allowed me to spend plenty of time with this little guy treasuring these memories and making it not feel quite as fast.   I know each day he is changing and growing, but sometimes I have to sit down and look at pictures just to see how much, but look at what a HUGE difference in just a month!

About a week after we hit the 2 month mark, we finally transitioned out of newborn diapers and clothes (I seriously thought he would not have been in them this long, but part of me was sad to see that time end). Truthfully, most of his newborn clothes fit, though several were beginning to get short in the length, but the main issue was getting them over his head.  Definitely got a future genius with that big brain growing!!  This milestone also marked a field trip to the pediatrician!!  Baby boy got several vaccinations (part of me looked forward to this so his little immune system would finally have some protection from all the germs out there).  If all vaccines could be oral, that would have been wonderful for both Caden and I because he had no problems with that one.  The shots however, were a different story with loud crying from Caden (and I didn't like them either).  He was a trooper and recovered quickly afterwards without any side effects (yay!)
Here are his 2 month stats:
  • Weight = 10 lbs. 6.4 oz. (7%) (he definitely is a little guy!)
  • Height = 23 in. (40%)
  • Head Circumference 15.59 in. (58%)
You are a great baby Caden and spoiling us. Very easy going like your Daddy most of the time. Sometimes you'll start to fuss if you're not getting paid enough attention, but you quickly get us back in line. You love your hands and we are fighting each day to get them out of your mouth, but I feel like this is a battle we are losing.   The past couple weeks you have started smiling more often, which is the absolute best sight!!  The gas related smiles were cute too, but nothing beats a happy baby!! Though diaper changes are not usually your favorite activity, you thoroughly enjoy just chilling on your changing pad. I think it's because you like looking up at the light and ceiling fan, but regardless it gives me a few minutes to get ready in the mornings so I'll go with it!!
You celebrated your 2 month birthday by going on a church marriage retreat!  Hey you're never too young to learn how to be a great Christian husband!! You had several other baby friends too, so you didn't stick out. I would like to thank you for pooping that Saturday for the first time in a week (yes, the last time this kiddo went #2 was at the start of the week on Sunday). Of course I was not expecting this when I went to change you armed only with a diaper, wipes, and changing pad, but I was thrilled you finally let it out!  Your onesie most definitely got dirty and since your extra clothes were in the meeting room, you strolled back into that session shirtless. You pulled off the look well, but we got a shirt back on you quickly! Your mother learned to take the whole diaper bag with her every time you need to be changed.
You are loved dearly sweet boy and we can't wait to see what this next month brings!!
