Easter 2016

Even though it's come and gone, and now seems so long ago I wanted to blog about our Easter fun!  Caden got to do 4 different Easter egg hunts between family, friends, and school!  At the first one, he took more of a leisurely approach walking slowly, looking at each egg before carefully placing it in his basket, and then moving on to repeat the process.  By the last egg hunt, he was racing trying to find as many eggs that he could and throwing them into his basket.  We visited the Easter bunny at the mall, and Caden was TERRIFIED!  Since Molly was here this year, there was no way for the bunny to hold both a tiny baby and a screaming/flailing his body all around toddler.  I pretty much pushed him as close as I could towards the Easter bunny without making it into the picture (because of course I was in jeans and a t-shirt not nice clothes like the kiddos).  We tried dying eggs, which was definitely an experience with a toddler who didn't quite understand why you couldn't just drop the eggs in the dye with all his might. All in all, it was a lovely holiday with our wonderful family!

Sing and Pray

Last several posts have been monthly updates on Molly, but her big brother is growing up fast too. He loves Veggie Tales & YouTube videos, looking for the moon at night, and of course playing outside, but this kid LOVES to sing and pray (i.e.church). Every time church is over (which is twice on Sundays and Wednesday nights unless we have had some serious bad behavior) you can always find Caden at the front of our auditorium singing on the stage along with saying a few prayers that he ends with "Amen".  Still can't tell if he's singing an actual song  most of the time or one he has composed himself, but it's absolutely precious!!  Now if you ask him to sing, usually he won't or call him out on his lovely singing.  It has be on his terms, almost like it's his idea to do it, not yours.  Whatever family member is watching him has their assigned spot, and they're all different.  Caden also prefers to sing alone usually, so if he hands you a pen (his microphone) then consider that a great honor.  You can usually hear his little voice saying "Let's sing" whenever someone is praying or preaching during church.
This sweet boy doesn't just sing at church either!  He's constantly doing it at home, loves to belt it out at the grocery store, or serenade us in the car.  I'm curious to see if he'll love to sing this much when he's older, but it does his parent's hearts good to hear his sweet little voice so excited about church!

Fruits and Vegetables

Not too long ago Caden discovered You Tube videos, which opened a whole new world of songs and learning beyond just Veggie Tales.  Now he can find them on his own with no problem at all.  Craziness!  Somehow he stumbled onto this video with plastic fruits and vegetables stuck together with velcro and the whole video shows someone cutting the food into 2 pieces while calling out the name of said food.  Doesn't seem too exciting right? Wrong.  Our 2 year old Caden loves it!!!!  It's crazy to hear him try to say things like eggplant and chili pepper at such a young age, much less sit still to watch the video.

Fast forward to Easter time, I was looking for some things to put in his Easter basket and thought if I could find something like this, Caden would be in love!  Thank goodness there's a housekeeping section at Toys R' Us because they had it.  Easter morning when he got his basket, Caden was in heaven!! Now if I could just get this kiddo to eat these vegetables, I would be a happy camper too!
Pants are not necessary to cut some veggies

Once we told him that Larry from Veggie Tales was a cucumber
like he had, all we hear is "Where's Larry?"
